ABOUT DIANE LEVINE

I was born in Philadelphia, where I attended Fleisher Art memorial for sculpture and Moore College of Art and Design. Graduating with a B.F.A. in Advertising Art. I worked in a New York City art studio and in New Jersey for two newspapers. I quickly realized that my temperament was not suited for advertising and decided to devote my time and energy to the making and teaching of the fine arts.

Over the years I have exhibited in many shows and galleries, locally, nationally and internationally. I have won many awards, including many first prizes. Recently I won first prize for two years in a row at the Lawrence Historical Park Regional show. My work has been accepted to the Maryland Pastel Society national show and the Pastel Painters of Maine international show and many others. I was also included in the Rhoddy competition at the Concord Art Association where I had achieved Distinguished Artist status.  I am also a member of the Pastel Painters of ME and the NH pastel Society. My work had also been seen in the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum for several years running while I resided in Japan. I have also had my work published in Art Business News, the NH business report, and local newspapers including the Boston Globe.

One of my galleries, Art 3, in Manchester NH, asked me to create two landscapes of Manchester to be reproduced for the Hilton Garden Center Hotel for placement in their rooms. I have had many accolades about the pieces from both the hotel and their guests.

As a teacher with 45 years experience, I am able to bring out the best work from my students. They achieve remarkable results fairly quickly. Many students return again and again for my instruction. I have always hoped that my students would surpass me in their painting achievements, and so I teach with that goal in mind.

I am happily married for 45 years to my husband Mark. We have  2 children and 4 grandchildren. Over these years we moved quite a number of times in the U.S. and even had an overseas stint in Japan (5years).
